Google Ads Implements Strict Certification Filters for Gambling Advertisers

Effective March 23, 2026, Google Ads will enforce updated regulations designed to purge the advertising space of bad actors and intermediaries. These changes target both the technical requirements for landing pages and the reputation of Manager Accounts (MCC).

Key Sanctions for Manager Accounts (MCC)

Google is introducing a “collective responsibility” system for agency accounts. A Manager Account may permanently lose its right to gambling certification if:

  • A significant portion of its sub-accounts have had their existing permissions revoked.
  • Managed accounts have systematically violated Google’s gambling policies while holding active certificates.

Technical Restrictions for Websites

As part of the crackdown on “fly-by-night” sites and low-quality traffic, Google will cease certifying resources that:

  • Are hosted on free platforms: Websites on third-level domains (e.g., .wordpress.com, .wixsite.com, .blogspot.com) will be automatically rejected.
  • Lack direct relevance: Content must be strictly industry-specific and professional.
  • Use third-party domains: The advertiser must verify full ownership and management of a second-level domain.

These measures are intended to ensure that only stable, verified brands with transparent digital asset structures can participate in the ad auction.
